LOCATION Pr' Tatko Hostel is located in Podkoren village - which is 3 km further from Kranjska Gora. The village lies on the northern border of the Triglav national park and is an ideal starting point for trips round Slovenia as well as for side trips to Austria or Italy. Although the Zgornjesavska valley with the Podkoren village is embraced by the peaks of the Karavanke Mountains and the Julian Alps, the valley is easily accessible. No more than half an hour’s drive will take you to the motorways in Italy (Tarvisio), Austria (Villach) or Slovenia (Karavanke tunnel). The nearest railway station is not far at all and there is less than an hour’s drive to the Ljubljana International Airport. Getting there By car: From Ljubljana: In Slovenia, the motorway from Ljubljana past Kranj, Jesenice and Kranjska Gora will take you to the village of Podkoren near Kranjska Gora. A further 1.5 kilometres from Kranjska Gora, you take a right turn in the direction of Austria and an immediate left turn to the village centre. The hostel stands in the village square, right at the village linden tree. From Beljak/Villach-Austria: From Austria and from the direction of Beljak (Villach) across the state border of Korensko sedlo, you take a right turn to the village centre. If you arrive through the Karawanken tunnel, you exit the motorway right after the state border towards Kranjska Gora and after 1.5 kilometres; you take a right turn in the direction of Austria and an immediate left turn to the village centre. The hostel stands in the village square, right at the village linden tree. From Trbiž/Tarvisio-Italy: From Italy (Tarvisio), you enter Slovenia across the Rateče state border; in the village of Podkoren, you take a left turn to the village centre. The hostel stands in the middle of the village of Podkoren in the village square, right at the village linden tree. By train/bus: The nearest train station is at Jesenice; there, you can board a bus (with the sign Rateče-Planica on it) for another 30-minute drive to Podkoren, which is only 25 km away.
